How to use this file: This file is compatible with the older versions of Microsoft Word. Make this file easily accessible to students using a shared folder on the local network, a cloud based file sharing service, or your school's chosen student learning management system.

Students create their family tree by entering the names of their relatives in the ovals. You may need to give students extra time to gather the names and details about their distant relatives. You might also model the basics of how to move, add, or delete ovals, lines and arrows. You might also demonstrate how to format text for size, font and colors. If you have a webcam or digital camera available, students could also add a small image of themselves in one of the lower corners of the family tree.
