Students Create a Cell Structures and Functions PowerPoint
Students research the internet for information about various plant and animal cell structures and their functions. Students explain the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells. Students choose three of the following cell structures to research: cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, vacuoles, chloroplasts, and nucleus.
Students collect several images relevant to the various cell structures. Students create an informative and interesting 5 - 6 slide PowerPoint presentation using their images and research information.
This activity integrates technology into the Life Sciences curriculum.
Grade 5
Slide 1 - Title Slide - Cell Structures and Functions
Students add a title "Cell Structures and Functions". Students add one or more related images. Students add their name.

Slide 2 - Plant and Animal Cells
Students add a title "Plant and Animal Cells". Students explain the similarities and differences between plant and animal cells. Students add a related image.

Slide 3 - Cell Membrane
Students add a title "Cell Membrane". Students add a related image. Students describe the function of the cell membrane. Students add one or more interesting facts about the cell membrane.

Slide 4 - Nucleus
Students add a title "Nucleus". Students add a related image. Students describe the function of a cell's nucleus. Students add one or more interesting facts about the nucleus.

Slide 4 - Cytoplasm
Students add a title "Cytoplasm". Students add a related image. Students describe the function of cyctoplasm. Students add one or more interesting facts about cytoplasm.

Slide 5 - Bibliography
Students add a title " Bibliography". Students cite their sources for their information.
