Students Create a PowerPoint about a Geographical Area
Students research a particular geographical area and construct a 4 slide PowerPoint presentation using titles, text and images. Students use the internet to reseach basic facts about their selected geographical area such as location, size, weather and animal life. Students should be reminded not plagiarize information for their slides. I have used this lesson successfuly with 3rd graders. Your mileage may vary.
Slide 1 - Title Slide
Students begin by creating 4 blank slides. The first slide is the title slide that should include the name of their geographical area, some pictures of the area and their name.

Slide 2
Students add a title about where their geographical area is and it's size. Students locate one or more appropriate images of their geographical area and insert or paste them on their slide. Students add some brief information about the area's location and size.

Slide 3
Students add a title about their geographical region's weather. Students locate one or more images to give as an example of the region's weather conditions and insert or paste them on their slide. Students add some brief facts about the area's temperature and climate.

Slide 4
Students add a title about their geographical area's animals. Students locate two or more images to give as examples of the region's animal life and insert or paste them on their slide. Students add some interesting facts about the area's animal life.

Slide 5
Optional: Bibliography.
