Students Create a PowerPoint about Maui - The Valley Isle
Students research the internet for information about Maui's geographical features, history, and economy. Students find images related to each topic. Students use their images and research information to create an interesting and informative PowerPoint presentation.
This activity integrates technology into the Hawaiian History - Social Studies curriculum.
Grade 4 and up
Slide 1 – Maui – The Valley Isle
Students add a title “Maui". Students add one or more images of Maui. Students add their name.
Slide 2 – Maui's Geographical Features
Students add a title “Geographical Features”. Students add one or more images of interesting land formations in Maui. Students add information about how the island was formed. Students add interesting facts about the major land regions.
Slide 3 – Maui's History
Students add a title “History”. Students add one or more images of Maui's historical past or images of historical landmarks. Students add two or more interesting facts about significant events in Maui's history.
Slide 4 – Maui's Economy
Students add a title “Economy”. Students add one or more images related to the economy of Maui (tourism, agriculture, construction, manufacturing, etc.). Students add two or more interesting facts about Maui's economy.
