Students Create a PowerPoint about Minerals
Students research information about minerals, everyday uses of minerals, the Mohs' hardness scale and interesting facts about minerals. Students collect several images of different kinds of minerals. Students use their research information and images to create an interesting and informative 4 slide PowerPoint presentation about minerals.
This lesson plan integrates technology into the Earth Sciences curriculum.
Grade 4 and up
Slide 1 - Title Slide - Minerals
Students add a title "Minerals". Students add 2 or more facts answering the question "What are Minerals?" Students add two or more images of minerals. Students add their name.

Slide 2 - Mineral Uses
Students add a title "Mineral Uses". Students describe several uses of minerals in everyday items. Students add two or more images of examples of minerals used in everyday items.

Slide 3 - Mohs' Hardness Scale
Students add a title "Moh's Hardness Scale". Students explain the purpose of the Moh's hardness scale. Students give two or more examples of different minerals and their hardness rating on the Moh's hardness scale. Students add two or related images.

Slide 4 - Interesting Facts
Students add a title "Interesting Facts". Students add two or more interesting facts about minerals. Students add one or more related images.
