Common Core Informative Writing - Lesson 5 - Come to my party!
This writing lesson plan integrates technology into the Common Core Writing Standard for informative writing. Students create a simple party invitation using When, Where, What. This writing lesson gives first grade students practice writing 4 sentences using capitalization and a variety of punctuation. Students also learn to search for clipart, and then insert and size their clipart. Students increase the font size and print and / save save their work.
Students will use the "Shift" key to capitalize letters and add some punctuation. Students will use the spacebar to properly space their words. Students will use the "Enter" key to move down to a new line after typing each sentence.

First Grade Writing - Common Core Informative Writing
Students open the word processor application and type the required content, insert and size one piece of clipart and add their name.
Tips:
Model and explain each step to students. Be prepared to provide extra assistance and repetition. Work towards developing increased proficency and mastery throughout the entire series of lessons.
Increase the font size before beginning writing. You can teach how to select text and increase font size later in the year.
Teach the students how to use the "Backspace" and "Undo" buttons to fix mistakes.
Remind students to press the print button only once.
