Friendship - Poster Activity
Students Create a Mini Friendship Poster
Students write three friendship sentences about things that friends do together. Students add pictures or clipart images of activities that friends do together. Students type their friendship sentences into the textboxes on the friendship template. Students copy and paste or insert pictures or clipart images into the picture boxes on the friendship template. Students create a mini friendship poster using their friendship sentences, pictures, fancy fonts, different font colors and page borders.
This activity integrates technology into classroom curriculum about relationships / friendships (2nd grade Treasures Reading, 3rd grade Open Court Social Studies).
Grade 2 and up
1) Cameras - Brainstorm friendship ideas with the students and take pictures of the students enacting the ideas. Make the pictures available for copying and pasting from an online photo gallery or inserting from a shared image folder location. This method is the most personal as it uses images of classmates. This method could take multiple sessions for brainstorming, image aquisition, and poster creation.
2) Internet images - Brainstorm friendship ideas with the students and search the internet for friendship images. Copy and paste the images into the mini friendship poster.
3) Clipart - Use clipart in Microsoft Word or other clipart collections accessible by students.
Finished Mini Friendship Poster Example:
In this example, the image of the student could be taken with a webcam or camera, and the remaining friendship images could be sourced online (Wikimedia Commons) by searching for terms such as "girls" "boys" "friends" "play" and other related terms.
