How to Make a Website Header

This is a tutorial for how to make a basic website header using the free program Paint.NET. This header could be used in student sites such as a free google site, blog or wiki.

The program used is the FREE Paint.NET. Get it here.

Additional Paint.NET plugins were used to extend functionality to create the effects. Download here: Fire Effect and Object Outline. Download and copy the plugin .dll files to \Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects and then close and reopen Paint.NET if you had it open. Plugin installation instructions here.

 

 

How to Make a Website Header - Boys Version

This website header is contructed in 4 separate layers, a background layer for color, a layer for the student headshot picture, a layer for the ninja graphic and finally a text layer "Naruto". A simple gradient is applied to the black background layer and a fire effect is applied to that. The magic wand is used on the student headshot and ninja graphic to make the backgrounds transparent. The text layer uses a simple outline effect.
