Excel - Lunch Expenses for Two
Create an Expense Chart showing the Cost of Lunch for Two
Instructions: Students have one gift card for $15.00 for the school cafeteria called the "Munch Box". Students choose lunch items from the Munch Box Menu provided.
Students select enough items to get food and drinks for themselves and one very hungry and thirsty friend for lunch. Students purchase as many items as they can without going over budget. Students create an expense chart showing the costs of their purchases.

Munch Box Lunch Menu Example:
Explain the scenario to the students and make this menu available for them to view. Students should select several items from the menu, and enter their choices and the prices into their spreadsheet.
Students should already have previous experience entering data, and creating basic charts.
This exercise requires of formatting the numbers (values) with the dollar sign value (currency) and using autosum to total the costs.
1) Student enter their item names in column A and the costs in column B.
2) Students select all of the number values and apply $ dollar sign formatting.
3) Students write "Total Cost:" under the last items in column A, then use the "AutoSum" formatting
button to calculate the total amount in column B
.
4) Students create a column chart by selecting the food items in column A and the expenses in Column B.
