Students Create a Community Heroes PowerPoint
Students create a 4 slide PowerPoint presentation indentifying and discussing different community heroes such as police, firefighters, lifeguards, coaches, teachers, librarians, doctors, volunteers etc. Students write short sentences on the slides about how these heroes help other people in their community.
Students create their PowerPoint slides using titles, text boxes and clipart images. This lesson plan may require multiple classroom sessions. Students should save their slideshow presentations after each session, giving their file a descriptive name: "community-heroes-by-caitlyn.pptx"
Grade 2 and up
Community Heroes Title Slide
Students add the title "Community Heroes" and add clipart images of different types of heroes. Students add their name.
Family Heroes Slide
Students add clipart images of different family heroes in their life. Students add information telling who their family heroes are and tell what they do.
Local Community Heroes Slide
Students add clipart of local community heroes such as firefighters, police, doctors, teachers, lifeguards, librarians, nurses, etc. Students add information telling what these heroes do.
What Makes a Hero Slide
Students add clipart related to heroes. Students add information telling what makes a hero.
