Common Core Opinion Writing - Lesson 6 - School is Fun
This first grade lesson plan integrates technology into to the Common Core Writing Standards for opinion pieces. Students practice writing the introduction, details, and closing sentence to construct their informative paragraph. Students write using correct capitalization and punctuation. Students also search for appropriate clipart, and then insert and size their clipart. Students increase the font size and print and / or save their work.
Students will use the "Shift", "Enter", and the "Spacebar" keys to write their text.
Model and explain each step to students. Be prepared to provide extra assistance and repetition. Work towards developing increased proficency and mastery throughout the entire series of lessons. Depending upon student's typing speed and word processing skills expect this lesson to require 30 minutes or more of actual student work time.

First Grade Writing - Common Core Opinion Writing
Students write and opinion piece using the format of introduction, details, conclusion. Students use the first, next, then, last format.
Tips:
Increase the font size before beginning writing. You can teach how to select text and increase font size later in the year.
Teach the students how to use the "Backspace" and "Undo" buttons to fix mistakes.
Remind students to press the print button only once.
